Welcome to Merrick Design and Build’s new BLOG.

Inside Merrick

We’re excited about this step forward in technology, it’s not an easy thing for an old dog like me to do.  I would like to start this first post with some promises to you about what we will be including in the blog. First, this is meant to be a serious BLOG, no funny stuff, just relevant business related subject manner.  I will try to keep it fun. I will try to write and communicate clearly.  I will be accurate or I will not write about it, and when I am expressing an opinion I will make sure to state that it is an opinion rather than fact.
The remodeling world is changing very fast, there are new regulations on both a federal and local level that affect our customers and our projects.  There are new programs, tax credits and rebates coming from the county, state and federal government that are intended to stimulate the economy that I will make you aware of. New products and technologies are being introduced daily that will make life easier, last longer and protect our environment.
I take remodeling very seriously and consider remodelers professionals. Not only are we licensed and insured, we participate in continuing education and certification programs and are active participants in the local Metro DC NARI chapter as well as the National organization (NARI, National Association of the Remodeling Industry).  I am the immediate past president of NARI Metro DC and the current chair of the Government Affairs Committee for the National organization. I will use this BLOG to share information about what we are doing at NARI and how it affects remodelers and customers alike.
I am also very involved with Rebuilding Together in Montgomery County and chair their advisory board.  I also participate as a house captain for them on select projects and will be leading a team to New Orleans in August to mark the 5 year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and another project this fall with Choice Hotels.  I’d like to share this experience with all of our remodeling customers and professional remodeling associates.
Thanks for reading and please share your comments and suggestions with me.
