Silver Spring, Additions & Renovation/Kitchen - $200,000
Anne’s kitchen could easily be a show kitchen. Her white shaker cabinets are in high demand right now. The natural quartzite countertops add an organic feel to the space. We have a feeling quartzite may be the next big trend in kitchens. They combine the character of marble but the strength of engineered quartz. The textured glass backsplash adds a bit of bling. At the same time, the bubble glass pendants give a rustic touch. Each element is beautiful on its own, yet they complement the other perfectly.
Anne’s original kitchen was tight and closed off from the rest of her home. Merrick removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room to double the size of her kitchen. A large cased opening was added to the living room to open the gap even further while still defining the spaces.
The loss of the formal dining room left Anne and her family with a need for one more space to gather, so a small mudroom and music room were added just off the garage. It’s a lovely retreat from the rest of the home and the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of tea and listen to some music.
