Kensington, MD , Kitchen/Additions & Renovation - $150,000
Despite the yellow walls, Diana’s kitchen was dark and lacked functional space. Her wish list included a lighter, brighter kitchen, plenty of storage, and workspace for her family. With the Merrick Design Build Advantage, we developed an L-shaped kitchen design that stretched the kitchen addition while utilizing an existing porch. This allowed us to give Diana the large kitchen she was looking for. Our team of designers and builders coordinated this complex home addition seamlessly. At the same time, we kept style, function, and budget in mind.
Diana wanted a family-friendly gathering space with a traditional feel. The white painted cabinets in her L-shaped kitchen contrast with dark countertops around the perimeter. A rich warm wood top on the island completed the look. Design features like the Kohler Deck Mount Faucet, a farm sink, and Carrara marble backsplash tiles, create the traditional feel Diana was looking for. Rustic elements add an eclectic touch that appealed to her husband. An under-cabinet shelf houses a special glassware collection.
To make the kitchen child-friendly, Diana had us round the edges of the island top and extend it just enough so that her girls could join her while she worked. Other features include 42″ tall cabinets for greater storage and a microwave built into the island to save counter space. All features that offer greater function and practicality in this new L-shaped kitchen.
