There is always a new gimmick or fancy product on the kitchen scene. Some of them are worth the price, others, not so much. With over 25 years in the business we think these 5 kitchen upgrades are more than a passing trend and are well worth the splurge.
1. The Drawer Microwave
We are guilty of questioning this new appliance when it hit the market a few years ago, but it has had real staying power. After installing several of them we see why. It gets the microwave off the counter with out having to put it above the range, which is always inconvenient. Having it at a lower level means everyone, including the kids can use it safely. Added bonus it’s easier to clean than you might think.
2. Farmhouse Sinks
The Farmhouse sink has been around for ages but it hit the market hard in recent years. It’s a timeless piece that is going to add character to any kitchen.
A standard base kitchen cabinet consists of one top drawer, doors and a single fixed shelf. While many ask for Roll -up trays to be added to their cabinets the best way to go is drawers. They provide more storage that is easier to access.
4. Hardwood Floors
For decades the kitchen has had a different type of flooring than the rest of the home, usually tile or linoleum. However, now that everyone wants an open concept home that no longer fits, instead we are now running hardwood floors right through every single kitchen we design! It creates a seamless look with the rest of the home and is softer on your feet than tile.
5. Quartzite Counter Tops
Engineered quartz had exploded on the market in the past decade, but natural quartize slabs are going to be the next big thing. They have all the strength and sanitary benefits of engineered quartz with all the natural beauty of granite and marble.
