Sylvia, and her husband Richard, are long-time Merrick clients. When they approached us about remodeling their hall bathroom (original to their 1930 Forest Hills home), we couldn’t wait to get started! The goal was to create an inviting space, something both the homeowners and any guests could enjoy.
In order to make the space function better, we opened up the room by replacing the existing corner tub with a large, luxurious shower. The glass enclosure lets in natural light from the window to brighten the space. And in keeping with the very traditional feel of their home, we created custom wood wainscoting and were heavy-handed with the use of marble tile.
Sylvia and Richard also asked us to give a facelift to the primary bathroom we installed for them in the 90s. The bathroom was in good shape, just had some tired elements: the 12×12 floor tile, wall-to-wall mirror, and fussy drop-in sinks had seen better days. We stripped the old wallpaper, installed a gray marble floor to break up the all-white bathroom, and added quartz counter and a fresh coat of light gray paint.
